We believe that our societies need more platforms for open, generative dialogue. These guidelines are designed to help us co-create such a space in the u.lab community.
This is a place to explore the best possible future for business, society, and ourselves in the context of Theory U. It's not a place to solicit business or personal relations, judge, induce fear, or create a climate of cynicism. If we receive a valid complaint about your conduct, we’ll send you a warning or terminate your account. It is not okay to solicit or try to obtain information about other members through this site, aside from what members have already provided in their profiles and posts.
A time of disruption and unprecedented challenge calls for qualities of humility, courage, deep inquiry and trust. We invite each other to:
- Show up and choose to be present with generous listening
- Pay attention to that which has heart and meaning
- Communicate from a spirit of reflective and generative inquiry
- Honor and clarify differences with curiosity, respect and humility
- Respect requests for confidentiality
- Participate with a consciousness of our own place in the creative work of the social field
If you have had a conversation with someone through email in or a private group here, please honor confidentiality. It is not appropriate to "lift" what one person contributes in a private context and share it outside the initial environment. If you wish to quote specific posts you will need to contact the person involved and get their permission.
Sharing (eg YouTube) and linking are ok, but uploading documents or media should be content that you have created, or do with permission and clear attribution. If you cite a quote, poem, image, etc - please also include the source. Respect the copyright of others, and in the case of PI - if you use any of the tools and resources created by PI, please follow this additional open source requirement: http://www.presencing.com/permissions
The Presencing Institute uses a Creative Commons Attribution Share Alike 3.0 Unported License for all U.Lab materials on this site. This lets others share: copy, distribute, and transmit the work, as well as remix: tweak, adapt, and build upon our work even for commercial reasons. To create a hub, the member agrees to the following three guidelines:
1. Naming: Please name hubs so they can be easily found through a keyword search. We suggest this format: [Location], [Topic], or [Organization] Hub. An example would be: Capetown Hub or Edinburgh Health Hub.
2. Authoring: The person creating the hub agrees to host the virtual hub on this website, and/or the actual in-person gathering.
3. Curation: The Presencing Institute maintains the right to curate the Hubs section, which might involve deleting inactive hubs, encouraging hubs in similar locations to merge, and intervening in other ways that could serve the larger whole.
On the Discussion Board
While the u.lab team will never edit the content of your postings, we reserve the right to curate the conversation space - which might mean moving conversation threads to new locations, or deleting them if they have become obsolete.
On Coaching Circle Groups
Content posted here will only be visible to your group members and course instructors (u.lab Co-Facilitators).
On Participant Reflections
Think of the stories as a community newspaper. Not everything that happens in a community makes it into the daily news. A good story has a beginning, middle, and end. It should also have a good "lede" - an opening that makes the reader want to continue reading. Above all else, the story should serve the public interest (u.lab participants) by pointing our attention to an important happening. Before you post, consider whether your story is better suited for the discussion board, or whether it meets the criteria above. Please always post a photo to accompany your story.
Changing our Guidelines
Please note that we review and may make changes to these Guidelines from time to time. When changes are made, we will include a notion "Revised (date)." indicating that you should review the new terms, which will be effective immediately upon posting on this page, with an updated effective date.
Thanks to those who have helped to refine these guidelines over time via feedback and conversation! We welcome ongoing input.
